Mozambique to share energy strategy at Paris conference

Mozambique is preparing to present its energy strategy and vision during the International Conference on Clean Energy, which will be held in May in the French capital, Paris.

The event will be co-chaired by the President of Tanzania, Samia Hassan Suluhu, the Prime Minister of Norway, Erna Solberg, and the Executive Director of the International Energy Agency, Fatih Birol. The conference is expected to be attended by global energy leaders, entrepreneurs and researchers.

According to information published by Semanário Económico, Mozambique has made significant progress in the renewable energy sector, maintaining its position as the main source of energy, representing 62% of generation in 2022, despite the increase in thermal generation.

In 2022, the country exported 27% of its production to neighboring countries, seeking to position itself as an energy hub in the southern African region.

To guarantee the country’s energy needs, the government approved the 2018-43 Electricity Infrastructure Master Plan, with the aim of integrating 20% renewable energy into the national energy matrix as a lower cost solution.

Mozambique’s participation in this conference underlines its commitment to sustainable development and the search for innovative and efficient energy solutions.
