Profile Mozambique: How did the idea for MãeBiz Super App come about, and what was the inspiration behind this project?
Kátia Agostinho: My experience with motherhood was the starting point for MãeBiz. In 2018, with the birth of my first and only daughter, my routine changed radically, both socially and professionally. Being from Quelimane, where my roots remain, I realized the need for support beyond family, offering a dedicated service to mothers. In 2020, after completing the Gender ChangeMakers certification by the Digital Frontiers Institute, I developed a final project that quickly evolved into MãeBiz, culminating in the launch of the MãeBiz Super App.
PM: What are the main features of the app that distinguish it from other digital solutions available in the market?
KA: The creative process of developing the app considered the routine of women and mothers from the moment they wake up, addressing needs such as health, household care, business management, access to information, among others. MãeBiz integrates shopping management, inventory, and budgeting, also incorporating various health aspects from menstrual cycle tracking, pregnancy, and baby care to facilitated access to services. Additionally, the platform features a family module that allows everyone’s participation, not just the woman’s, in this innovation.
By centralizing a variety of functions in a single app, MãeBiz eliminates the need for multiple interfaces, combining convenience and flexibility to address challenges in each area of a mother’s life. Furthermore, we are working to include a social support component, integrating communities of mothers, currently active on WhatsApp, to promote experience sharing, mentorship, and partnerships among mothers and professionals, with exclusive access for women. The app also offers an opportunity for economic empowerment of users by providing various opportunities such as a marketplace for diverse products and services.
PM: Can you explain how the personal and family management tool integrated into the app works, and what concrete benefits users can expect?
KA: MãeBiz helps women balance family, home, and work management with integrated features in a single app. Users can record tasks, assign responsibilities among family members, and synchronize schedules in the Family Calendar.
The budgeting module is restricted to her and the household head, while shopping lists and inventory allow efficient control of household items.
Soon, it will be possible to manage domestic workers, organizing contracts and tasks, and also suggest recipes based on inventory and help plan meals with AI integration in the app. AI integration is being developed not only for the meal component but also for all other shortcuts in the app. In the Health Manager, it will soon be possible to track the menstrual cycle, pregnancy, access the health network such as hospitals, pharmacies, and schedule medical appointments. MãeBiz centralizes everything for more practicality and family health care.
PM: What kind of information and resources does the app provide, and how do they support users’ business decisions and growth?
KA: Although we are living in an era with abundant information, it is often scattered, and access is time-consuming. The platform reflected on how women organize their day and how it would be more convenient to receive and access various types of information.
MãeBiz’s InfoHub organizes and centralizes relevant information for mothers, entrepreneurs, and workers, including public documents, training opportunities, funding, job vacancies, and events. Information is instantly notified on the phone and organized in the app, avoiding losses in WhatsApp and emails.
This saves time and empowers women to make informed decisions. This solution addresses one of the biggest barriers to women’s financial inclusion: the difficult access to information.
PM: What innovative elements of MãeBiz’s interface facilitate its use, even for users with less technological familiarity?
KA: MãeBiz adopts an intuitive interface to facilitate the experience of users with little technological familiarity. The menu is organized for easy navigation, with the home screen displaying tasks and events of the day, as well as shortcuts to other functions. With AI integration, these shortcuts should reflect the most used tools by each user, further easing navigation and quick access. Notifications are clear and objective. Soon, the app will have a virtual assistant for real-time support and interactive tutorials for visual guidance.
PM: How does MãeBiz Super App contribute to improving time management and promoting a healthy balance between personal and professional life?
KA: MãeBiz organizes daily life practically, centralizing personal and professional tasks and commitments in one place. It allows setting priorities, automates repetitive tasks, and facilitates quick delegation of activities. With various productivity tools integrated into a single platform, it eliminates the need to switch between different apps. Accessible via mobile phone, it offers flexibility and convenience. Soon, it will feature educational content and courses to support personal and professional growth.
PM: What data or statistics can you share about the app’s market acceptance, and how has user feedback influenced future updates?
KA: The launch was done quietly, without an official event or media coverage, and in less than 30 days, it reached 100 downloads. Feedback has been positive; we have received several suggestions on how it can be improved and what else would be interesting to add.
PM: What are the development and expansion plans for MãeBiz Super App in the coming years, and what strategic partnerships are being explored to enhance the platform?
Modules focused on health, business, community, and newsletters are in development. Collaboration
