Business conference in Maputo analyzes renewable energy in Mozambique

On Friday, November 24th, the 3rd Business Conference – Renewables in Mozambique (RenMoz) will be held at the Montebelo Indy Hotel in Maputo. The event, considered to be the meeting point for the main national and international stakeholders and experts in the renewable energy sector, follows on from the “Mozambique – EU Global Gateway Investment Forum” which will take place the days before, on November 22 and 23.

This year’s edition reinforces the two previous editions, adding to RenMoz’s history as a benchmark event for the sector, organized by those who follow and know all the details about renewable energies in Mozambique.

Many activities are planned for this conference, most notably the launch of the 3rd edition of the ‘Summary: Renewables in Mozambique 2023’, following on from the 2022 and 2021 publications, reinforcing it as a key publication on the renewable energy sector in the Mozambican market.

Used by both the government and the private sector, the Summary provides the most relevant information on the various market segments, with updates on the renewable energy market in Mozambique in terms of statistics, legislation, stakeholders, projects and programs for each market segment. In addition to this document, the Business Conference – Renewables in Mozambique 2023 will present GET.invest’s ‘Market Insights’, with the latest data and investment opportunities in the Independent Power Producers (IPP) and self-consumption sectors for Commerce and Industry (C&I) services.

Also at the conference, the Ministry of Mineral Resources and Energy (MIREME) will present the “Government Strategy & Regulatory Framework”, in an institutional session that aims to clarify the future of the renewable sector in Mozambique; Electricidade de Moçambique (EDM), for its part, will present the priority projects that are under development within the scope of independent renewable energy producers and grid expansion. In the same session, the Energy Fund (FUNAE) will have the opportunity to present projects to increase access to off-grid energy and explain how it will coordinate with private initiatives.

There will also be sessions dedicated to the private sector, which will showcase the resources available to companies, with the presence of spokespeople from MIREME and ARENE, as well as agencies implementing programs with tenders for renewable energy projects, namely GET FiT and PROLER. Afterwards, companies operating in Mozambique, their products, services and possible partnerships related to the renewable energy sector will be presented.

The conference will close with a session dedicated to investment, during which financiers and investors with an interest in the Mozambican renewable energy market will present themselves and explain the types of projects and/or companies they are looking for, as well as the investment conditions.

RenMoz is organized by the Lusophone Renewable Energy Association (ALER) together with the Mozambican Renewable Energy Association (AMER), with the support of GET.invest Mozambique, funded by the European Union and Germany and part of the European GET.invest programme.
