Efficient management of mineral resources ensures a solid economy

The government official made his considerations, on Thursday, at the opening of the 5th edition of the Nampula Gem Fair, (FAGENA), an event with the participation of 35 exhibitors, including large companies, small operators and other entities involved in research , coming from various regions of the country.

“Currently there is a growth in geological-mining activity, associated with the expansion of geological research that has culminated in the discovery of new mineral occurrences. The legal framework of the sector has allowed us to attract investments in the area of research, production and export of our resources, placing our country on the world map”, he pointed out.

According to Neto, the fair will allow the sharing of products and knowledge, facilitating a better reflection on the current stage, taking into account the challenge of ensuring the increase in processing in the country.

“From this perspective, we would like to recognize the role of teaching and research in this area. The increase and diversification of training in geology, mining engineering and areas linked to geosciences is an unequivocal sign of the government’s concern with improving the level of knowledge about the occurrence of minerals in the country”, he stated.

Neto considers that FAGENA can be a main showcase for precious and semi-precious metals and gems extracted and sold in Mozambique, where the province of Nampula, due to its geographical location, stands out at national level, as a marketing center, but also, a hub for reflection on good practices and gains for investors and the country.

FAGENA, which closes tomorrow, will be marked by a jewelry parade and includes a mineral exhibition, business meetings, debates between researchers and experts in the field in order to promote business opportunities.
