Eni Rovuma Basin, on behalf of the partners of Area 4 and together with ADPP, inaugurated a school sports infrastructure at the ADPP Children’s Township Community Primary School in Maputo.

The project consisted of the total reconstruction of a multi-purpose sports field of about 600 square meters for school sports activities such as basketball, indoor soccer, volleyball and handball and also includes a fully equipped recreational area for pre-school children.

The implementation of this project aims to develop the educational and physical skills of students with the goal of improving their academic performance while reducing dropout rates. The inclusion of sports activities in the curriculum will enable an inclusive, equitable and quality education, thus contributing to the expansion of learning opportunities.

This infrastructure will benefit about 500 students at the ADPP Children’s Citadel and all children residing in the surrounding communities. With this initiative, Eni Rovuma Basin intends to contribute to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), namely SDG 3 – Good health and well-being, and SDG 4 – Quality education.

This initiative is part of the implementation of the sustainability plan of the Coral Sul project, approved by the Government of Mozambique.

Coral Sul is the first project to bring into production considerable natural gas resources from the Rovuma basin in Mozambique, with the first LNG shipment planned for the second half of 2022. The project is operated by Eni Rovuma Basin on behalf of the Area 4 partners, namely Eni, ExxonMobil, CNPC, Galp, KOGAS and ENH.
