FIKANI 2023: Maputo hosts the 9th edition of the international tourism fair

The city of Maputo will become the epicentre of international tourism from today, 30 November, until 3 December, with the opening of the 9th edition of the international tourism fair (FIKANI). Under the suggestive theme “FIKANI – For Sustainable Tourism”, the event promises to be a catalyst for discussions on responsible and conscious tourism practices.
With more than 200 national and foreign exhibitors confirmed, FIKANI 2023 is a reflection of the vigour of the tourism sector, driven by government measures that have leveraged and boosted tourism in the country. The director of Investment and Development at the National Tourism Institute, Nuno Fortes, expressed his satisfaction with the significant increase in participants, both in terms of countries represented and attendance.

“The increase in the number of countries and people taking part is satisfactory for the country as a whole. Government measures are boosting and dynamising the tourism sector,” said Fortes, emphasising the importance of the event for promoting sustainable tourism in Mozambique.
In addition to the more than 200 exhibitors, the fair expects to welcome more than 6,000 visitors, including tourism and cultural service providers, representatives of travel agencies, accommodation and catering establishments, as well as public and private institutions. The diversity of participants reflects FIKANI’s scope as the government’s main platform for promoting the meeting of professionals from the hospitality, tourism and culture sectors.

FIKANI is not only a showcase for business, but also a forum for publicising investment, business and leisure opportunities. With an unequivocal focus on sustainable tourism, this year’s fair aims to inspire practices that respect the environment, local culture and contribute to the country’s socio-economic development.
The 9th edition of FIKANI promises to be a milestone in Mozambique’s tourism calendar, highlighting the importance of the sector as a crucial vector for the country’s sustainable economic growth. The event will not only attract the attention of investors and entrepreneurs, but will also consolidate Mozambique’s position as a leading tourist destination committed to environmental preservation and community development.
