HCB considers increasing energy production

The Hydroelectric of Cahora Bassa currently has five generators and produces little more than two thousand kilowatts of electricity, which should increase in the coming years.

Speaking to STV, the administrator of HCB’s Hydrology Department revealed, without giving too many details, that the firm to which he is affiliated has a study underway that should give details about the viability of increasing energy production in the country.

“We are more or less at 50% or 60% of that study. It is clear that the country is investing all its effort in an adjuvant dam to produce more energy, which will satisfy domestically, as well as the countries in the region,” said the administrator of the Hydrology Department of Cahora Bassa Hydroelectric, Nilton Trindade.

According to Trindade, the study will bring, together with the professionals of the area, the main guarantees that the country needs to enter in a project of this nature.

The conclusion of the feasibility study for the increase of the energy production in the country is foreseen for the first quarter of 2023.
