Investment and industrialization in Mozambique

Recently, Xu Gang, Huaxin’s vice-president for international business, met with Mozambique’s Minister of Industry and Trade, H.E. Silvino Augusto José Moreno, and the two parties exchanged views on investment and industrialization in Mozambique.

Xu Gang informed Minister Moreno about Huaxin’s work in Mozambique and the progress of the project to build its own clinker production unit at the Nacala plant. After Huaxin took over the management of Cimentos de Moçambique, it kept the previous management team, which has been working together with the team from China, in order to improve the company’s level of industrialization and competitiveness in the market.

The Nacala project is currently running according to plan and, once the project is up and running, the company expects to employ local staff, contribute tax revenue, improve the level of national industrialization and provide high-quality products and services.

Minister Moreno welcomed China’s new investment in Mozambique. He pointed out that Huaxin is a well-known company, with cases of successful investments in many countries in Asia and Africa, creating a large number of jobs, tax contributions, obtaining good economic and social benefits.

The Government of Mozambique will, as always, support Huaxin in the development of cement business in Mozambique and coordinate the rapid progress of the Nacala project.

The visit was also attended by Fernando Barreto, General Manager of Cimentos de Moçambique and Ludovina Bernardo, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade.
