Amilton Alisson, who was speaking in the context of the opening of the Economic Forum of the Arab-Mozambican Chamber of Commerce, defended his position saying that Mozambique’s ports combined with a rail and road network place the country as a reference logistics node for the world’s main maritime routes.
“In recognition of this potential, the Government is implementing a vast program of rehabilitation, expansion and modernization of its transport infrastructure to improve the efficiency and flow of cargo in the country’s development corridors,” said the Deputy Minister of Transport and Communications reiterating before the various participants of that forum the openness of the Government in framing its initiatives, within the mechanisms established in the various areas of logistics and other sectors of activity.
In his turn, the President of the Arab-Mozambican Chamber of Commerce, Sérgio Matos, considered that the performance of that Economic Forum is accentuated in the vision of turning the Arab countries into the main business partners in Mozambique, through planned and systematic work with the interested parties.
Matos also considered that strengthening the logistical capacity of maritime and rail transport and port services, in addition to increasing the inflow of foreign exchange, will boost economic development initiatives and projects in the various sectors of activity, thus enabling greater participation of national and foreign business.
The Economic Forum Arab-Mozambican Chamber of Commerce will be held in Maputo between the 18th and 19th, at the Joaquim Chissano Conference Center, an event that brings together various players in the country’s economic sphere and beyond, putting up for debate themes such as Rail and Maritime Transport Logistics, Mozambique’s Challenges in Implementing the African Continental Free Trade Agreement, Strategies and Competitive Position of Ports and Railways in Mozambique, and Business and Investment Opportunities.
It should be noted that, with the holding of CCAM, it is expected that partnerships will be established between the Mozambican business community, Arab countries, SADC, Asia and Europe.
