Partnership between LAM and TAAG expands flights in both countries

The partnership between the Mozambican and Angolan aviation institutions, signed in April, aims to explore more destinations to meet growing demand and boost economic development between the two countries.

The president of Mozambique’s National Civil Aviation Institute (IACM), João de Abreu, explained that under the memorandum, Mozambique Airlines (LAM) will be able to extend its flights beyond the Angolan capital Luanda, flying to other provincial capitals. Likewise, Angola Airlines (TAAG) will be able to extend its flights to more Mozambican locations.
“There will be no problems if one day TAAG wants to fly to Beira or Pemba and, in reciprocity, just as there will be no problems if we want to fly to one of the big airports that exists now – Agostinho Neto,” said João de Abreu.

For her part, the PCA of Angola’s National Civil Aviation Authority (ANAC), Amélia Kuvíngua, pointed out that the document signed makes it official for passengers of the two operators to share flights to certain points in Africa or the rest of the world, where one or other company is operating.

“With this cooperation, we will complement each other and fill existing gaps,” said Amélia Kuvíngua, noting that the memorandum establishes the terms and conditions for expanding and deepening technical cooperation and the exchange of knowledge and best practices in the development, modernization, operation and maintenance of the civil aviation system of both countries.

Kuvíngua pointed out that Mozambique has played an important role in cooperation between the countries, mentioning the collaboration during the audit carried out in 2022 by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).
