LTPlabs and MAAT, Portuguese companies, have developed a technological solution using Artificial Intelligence (AI) to support the management of Águas da Região Metropolitana de Maputo (AdRMM), with the aim of reducing losses and increasing service efficiency.
LTPlabs, a specialist in advanced data analysis, in partnership with the MAAT consultancy, has implemented measures to reduce expenses and commercial and physical losses, as well as increasing efficiency in water services. One of the initiatives was the creation of a chatbot on Telegram to help employees solve problems with water leaks and charge consumers for the service, resulting in thousands of euros saved.
AdRMM’s situation assessment identified problems in terms of physical losses due to poor network monitoring, lack of preventive maintenance, high energy costs, among others. With the support of Portuguese companies, a strategy was created to solve these problems, estimating annual savings of at least 6.5 million meticais.
Bruno Batista, Director of LTPlabs, said: “We are very satisfied with the solutions presented. It was a very comprehensive project in which we worked on improving the system, from the operation to the end customer, also including an incentive program for responsible water use, a constant report on breakdowns, leaks and problems and new billing methods. The problem is serious and we are counting on MAAT’s essential support to adapt the country’s needs to the capacity to implement them.”
