This is an investment of about 20 million dollars with a capacity to generate more than 250 jobs in this first phase of its implementation, which, by the way, will be the first major independent data storage center in Mozambique.
According to Robert Mullins, CEO of Raxio Group, the goal is to equip what will be the largest information hosting center with state-of-the-art technology resources, in order to serve as a key piece in the evolution of digital transformation processes in Mozambique.
“This will be Raxio’s main facility in Mozambique and will be maintained with the company’s core sustainability principles to minimize environmental shock through better equipment selection and sustainable design,” Mullins argued.
Speaking during the ceremony, the Governor of Maputo province, Júlio Paruque, praised the initiative by advancing the need to remove barriers in accessing land for investment purposes.
“We cannot turn around when an investor needs land to install industrial infrastructures, but we have seen mobsters and opportunists who delay development by hindering the process of access to land for investment,” he concluded.
Raxio’s project comes to Mozambique at a time when Internet usage is increasing exponentially, with the number of users rising from 15 to 32% between 2015 and 2021, indicating that the country is in need of a response to this significant digital transformation.
This data indicates that this increase in Internet usage in the country, will replicate itself in the need for a strong infrastructure backbone. Thus, Raxio will provide cloud- and carrier-neutral colocation services to its customers, creating an ideal environment for businesses and connectivity providers to interconnect with each other, process and store data.
