Hussein Chalha was born in the city of Balback, Lebanon, on February 12, 1983. Son of Mohamad Hussein Chalha and Najah Toufaily, he is currently the CEO of SPAR VIP Supermercados Limitada, one of the leading retail chains in Mozambique, with over 15 stores and a team of 1,200 employees.
In addition to the Mozambican market, Chalha has led the international expansion of SPAR VIP. The first store in Dubai is already operational, with plans to open a second in the third quarter of 2024. Projects are also underway to enter the Tanzanian and Angolan markets, highlighting the ambition to take the brand to new horizons.
At the age of 13, Hussein left Lebanon in search of better opportunities for himself and his family, settling in Mozambique. From a young age, he understood that the greatest challenges can become the greatest opportunities. While other children played, he was already outlining his path in the business world.
Facing numerous obstacles, Hussein used each challenge as a source of motivation, gradually clarifying his goals and the way forward. His persistence and focus culminated in the creation of the SPAR VIP Group, which has become a benchmark in the retail sector in Mozambique.
Today, Hussein Chalha continues to seek new ways to innovate and expand, maintaining a firm commitment to quality and sustainable growth. His story is a source of inspiration to many, reflecting the essence of entrepreneurial spirit and the ability to turn adversity into opportunity.
