Mozambique may supply natural gas to the European market

The minister, who reflected on the importance of the energy sector as a catalyst for diversified economic development, also said he hoped the country would be prepared to contribute to the supply of natural gas on a global level.

“At the beginning, Asia was the market most interested in buying Mozambican gas in the form of LNG, but the situation has now changed radically due to the war situation that is happening in Europe. In this case, the European market has started looking at other suppliers and one of them is Mozambique”, he pointed out.

Carlos Zacarias argued that Mozambique’s biggest challenge is to make the various international partners understand that, in fact, the implementation of natural gas projects, a more friendly and/or less polluting resource, has the role of stabilizing demand worldwide and, consequently, bring revenues to the Mozambican state.
