New AIMO Leadership Aims to Stimulate Local Production

The new leadership of the Industrial Association of Mozambique (AIMO), headed by Paulo Chibanga, has committed to promoting active policies to stimulate local production, with a particular focus on industrialization, promoting Mozambican content, and reducing dependency on imported goods.

Speaking in Maputo at the closing of the Association’s 16th Ordinary General Assembly, which elected the new governing bodies for the 2025–2030 term, Chibanga stated that industrialization will be a strategic pillar of this new cycle, alongside intensified institutional advocacy with public and private entities.

“We want to encourage local production, defend the interests of Mozambican industry, and promote the export of value-added goods produced in the country,” said Chibanga, who also emphasized the importance of industrial exemptions as a means to strengthen the competitiveness of national companies.

The new leadership of AIMO has also identified as priorities the promotion of internal cohesion among its members, the development of new industrial units, and the strengthening of the private sector’s leadership capacity.

As part of the innovations introduced in this mandate, AIMO has established an Advisory Council, a strategic support body to the leadership, composed of individuals of recognized merit from the business, academic, and institutional sectors. According to the organization, the objective is to guide the association’s actions towards creating a more competitive, dynamic, and sustainable business environment.
