According to the Annual Report on Insurance Activity, published by the Insurance Supervision Institute of Mozambique (ISSM), in 2022, the position of the top ten insurers in the overall market share showed significant dynamics, with Hollard consolidating its position as leader, holding 23.4% of total Gross Premiums Issued (GPEs). Following closely behind are EMOSE and Fidelidade Impar, with 22.9% and 14% respectively.
The top five companies in the ranking hold 78.9% of the market share, representing a substantial increase of 17.8 percentage points compared to 2021, when this group had a share of 61.1%. This growth reflects greater competition between the companies at the top of the market.
In the second half of the table, there are new positions, with MCS and Hollard Vida entering the top ten, occupying seventh and tenth place respectively. Also noteworthy is the rise of Sanlam to sixth place, now holding 4.4% of the global share. These changes highlight the evolving competitive dynamics in the market.
These changes indicate not only the consolidation of the dominance of the leaders, but also the growing dynamics and competitiveness in the insurance market in 2022, promoting greater diversification and evolution in the ranking of the main companies in the sector.
