In this context, Filipe Nyusi expressed his satisfaction with the recovery trend of the tourism sector at the international level with emphasis on Europe and America, but also in other parts of the world, including the SADC region and Mozambique in particular.
“Currently, international arrivals in Mozambique are approaching 70% of the 2019 levels, therefore, before the Covid-19 pandemic,” he began by saying adding that “in the first quarter of 2022 our country recorded 149 thousand international visitors against 93 thousand in the same period last year and in this growth stands out the district of Vilankulo that notified itself as the largest destination of international tourism.
However, it is the expectation of the President of the Republic that this growth trend will continue with ambitious goals.
At the end of his speech, Nyusi challenged the tourism operators present at FIKANI to take full advantage of the opening measures and the simplification of bureaucratic procedures so that by 2024 the country can reach about 10 million international arrivals.
It should be noted that during the three days of the 8th edition of the fair, several activities are scheduled, such as exhibitions, issuing of passports, workshops, networking, social events and awards where the best exhibitors will be distinguished, with emphasis on: Best Exhibitor(Stand); Best Exhibiting Province; Best Foreign Exhibitor; Best Handicraft Exhibitor.
