Agricultural marketing campaign 2024 in Maputo foresees the sale of 189 thousand tons of products

The Council of State Representation Services in Maputo City has announced that it intends to market around 189,000 tons of various products during the 2024 agricultural campaign. The products include 132,374 tons of vegetables, 1,396 tons of legumes, 5,000 tons of tubers and 236,000 tons of cereals.

The campaign was launched in the Ka Mavota municipal district, under the theme “Agricultural marketing, boosting agribusiness and industrialization”. The director of Economic Activities in Maputo City, Hélio Nunes, highlighted the importance of the agricultural production chain and the fundamental role of marketing in boosting the sector.

On the other hand, the administrator of the Ka Mavota municipal district, Rodrigo Matavel, mentioned the challenges faced by farmers due to the floods in the southern part of the country, which resulted in the loss of a considerable amount of agricultural produce. He emphasized the importance of the event in promoting productivity in the city of Maputo, highlighting products such as lettuce, cabbage and onions produced on an area of 816 hectares.

The event included a debate on the challenges facing the agricultural sector, the potential of Maputo City and the value chain, covering topics such as production, distribution, transportation, access routes, processing, internal marketing and exports.
