The almond and oilseed sector has seen remarkable growth in recent years, with global almond production rising almost sixfold between 2013 and 2022, from 3343 to 5374 thousand tons. These figures were published in a study carried out by Promove Comércio.

During this period, world production of almonds and oilseeds showed a compound annual growth rate of 5.8%, resulting in an average annual increase of 250,600 tons. In 2022, almonds and almonds accounted for 27% and 22% of world production volume, respectively, followed by cashew nuts (20%), pistachios (14%) and hazelnuts (11%). Pine nuts, macadamias, pine kernels and Brazil nuts together accounted for the remaining 6%.

Furthermore, in 2022, the value of production was estimated at 32.083 million euros, of which cashew nuts took the largest share with 22% (6.962 million euros), followed by almonds, almonds and pistachios.

This significant growth in the sector reflects the growing demand for high-quality products, driven by increased consumer awareness of the health benefits of these foods. This growth trend is expected to continue in the coming years, offering opportunities for producers and further boosting the global economy.
