Amélia Tomás Taime Muendane holds a degree in Economics from Eduardo Mondlane University (UEM) and a Master’s in Business Administration from the Catholic University of Mozambique (UCM), obtained in 1997 and 2015, respectively.
Beyond her higher education, Amélia Muendane also acquired technical and professional certifications, including a Customs Experts course at the Maputo Commercial Institute between 1987 and 1991. Prior to that, between 1983 and 1984, she completed a Portuguese Language Teacher Training course.
Since August 2024, she has served as Chairperson of the Board of Directors of Aeroportos de Moçambique, IP. Previously, she was the President of the Mozambique Tax Authority and held various governmental roles, including Deputy Minister of Economy and Finance (January to August 2015) and Deputy Minister of Planning and Development (2011-2014).
Her professional journey began in 1986 as a Portuguese teacher at the secondary education level. With extensive experience in academia, she also carried out several research activities.
Following her tenure in the education sector, she took on the role of Coordinator of Foreign Trade Statistics between 1992 and 1993. It was in this field that she built much of her career, holding key responsibilities in various areas until she was appointed National Director of Integration and Statistical Coordination at the National Institute of Statistics (2009-2010), from where she later transitioned into government leadership.
