These are women working in different areas who see many of their projects stopped and are unable to continue.
One of the women who agreed to share the “pains” of others with “O País” speaks of numerous challenges they face in the sector, aggravated by the lack of funding.
“One of the great challenges is to recognize the equal role of women and men in the development of the business. The other is the issue of funding, but what we want to discuss with our women is how we can find mechanisms to overcome this constraint on funding,” said Teresa Muenda, secretary general of the Mozambique Chamber of Commerce.
Muenda added that her institution has always been guided by inclusion, so it has developed several projects that include women, such as the Business for Africa Conference, where the organization mobilized women who presented their projects to investors.
“Most investors are precipitous in the business, but banking requires collateral that women often don’t have. Also, the process for accessing financing is quite bureaucratic. There are some lines aimed at women, in banking, but the jurus rate is high and the processes are complex,” explained the source.
It was in this path that the Mozambique Chamber of Commerce and its counterpart in Stuttgart, Germany, signed a memorandum of understanding.
“With this memorandum, we will redouble our performance that concurs to break the barriers that women face for the development and leadership before the business in business and entrepreneurship”, explained Álvaro Massingue, president of the Mozambique Chamber of Commerce.
