ExxonMobil is moving forward with Front End Engineering Design (FEED) tenders for the Rovuma LNG project in Cabo Delgado, showing signs of resuming after the pause due to insurgent attacks in 2021.
According to Africa Oil+Gas Report, the company has launched tenders for gas gathering and other basic improvements, the second tender after the main one, which focuses on the construction of the Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) plant in partnership with companies such as Saipen and Bechtel.
The Final Investment Decision (FID) for the construction of the LNG plant is scheduled for 2025, with an estimated production of 18 million tons per year. The new tender includes the procurement and construction of housing in Afungi, in the province of Cabo Delgado, to accommodate thousands of workers.
The project also involves gas collection with the installation of underwater manifolds, foundations and distribution systems, including dredging, relocation of corals and installation of umbilicals.
