Portugal aims to strengthen bilateral cooperation with Mozambique

The head of state of Mozambique, Filipe Nyusi, and the new Portuguese Prime Minister, Luís Montenegro, discussed the possibilities of strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries. Montenegro expressed his intention to strengthen and expand cooperation, highlighting the maintenance of the Joint Commission and the next meeting to be held in Mozambique.

During the talks, Montenegro also expressed his sorrow at the loss of human life in the shipwreck near Mozambique Island.

Recently, Portugal’s former Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Francisco André, said that relations between Portugal and Mozambique are at a “point of excellence”, with cooperation projects being carried out above average. André highlighted the doubling of scholarships for Mozambican students to attend higher education in Portugal, to over 2,200 scholarships.
