President of the Republic receives Chinese parliamentarians to strengthen cooperation

The President of the Republic of Mozambique, Filipe Nyusi, received a Chinese delegation for a courtesy visit. The visit aims to strengthen relations and cooperation between the two countries, establishing a legislative exchange covering various areas.
Filipe Nyusi expressed his interest in improving cooperation between Mozambique and China at the legislative, political, social and cultural levels, highlighting the solid and long-lasting ties that unite the nations. He highlighted Mozambique’s successful participation in the Belt and Road Forum, held in October in Beijing, in which the country actively contributed with a delegation led by Prime Minister Adriano Maleiane.

During the meeting, President Nyusi expressed his condolences for the loss of former Chinese Prime Minister Li Keqiang, reaffirming the bonds of solidarity between the two countries. Hélder Injojo, first vice-president of the Assembly of the Republic of Mozambique, who accompanied the Chinese delegation, presented the positive results of the two-day visit, emphasizing closer relations between the legislative bodies.
The vice-president of the Standing Committee of the 14th National People’s Assembly of China, Losang Gyaltsen, expressed his gratitude for the warm welcome and conveyed the greetings of the Chinese president, Xi Jinping. Gyaltsen highlighted the importance of the meeting with the President of the Assembly of the Republic, Esperança Bias, in which they discussed relevant legislative issues.

The Chinese delegation’s visit provided an opportunity not only to strengthen ties between the parliaments, but also to deepen the historical and traditional links between the peoples of Mozambique and China, which date back to the beginnings of the armed struggle for national liberation and have been consolidated over the 48 years of the country’s independence.
The delegation, led by Losang Gyaltsen, ended its visit to Mozambique yesterday after significant exchanges on legislative cooperation and strengthening bilateral relations. The meeting highlights Mozambique’s continued commitment to pursuing strategic collaborations and seizing global opportunities to promote sustainable development.
Importantly, during its participation in the Belt and Road Forum in October, Mozambique shared its experience in green development, emphasizing resilience in the face of recurring climate challenges and reinforcing the country’s commitment to environmentally sustainable practices.
