The Temane Thermal Power Plant, currently under construction in Inhambane province, will contribute with about 75 percent of the 600MW of power projected by the Government for the present five year period, in response to the growing demand in the country.
The project, whose works started in 2021, is the result of an investment of 700 million dollars, financed by the World Bank.
The new plant, powered by natural gas, will have an installed capacity of 450MW, and the remainder will be covered by renewable energy.
The Mozambican government has projected the start-up of the new plant for the current five-year period, a fact that will allow the materialization of one of the main objectives of the Executive in the energy sector, doing justice to the bet that natural gas is crucial for the energy transition.
