Vodacom expands 4G technology to 136 sites in June

Vodacom Mozambique has installed in the country, last June, a total of 136 sites of 4G Network, an investment that makes the phone the largest mobile broadband operator for business, which, at the Government level, meets the National Plan for Broadband and Rural Broadband Expansion.

The expansion of this technology is fundamental, to accelerate the economic and social development of the country; promote digital inclusion; reduce social and regional asymmetries; promote job creation and new opportunities in the digital world; as well as expand electronic government services.

“We have always set it as a priority in our operations to bring an
communication experience, connecting everyone to an effective, quality network that matches our customers’ demands. The milestone we have achieved in just one month has contributed to making it easier for citizens to use state services and helps to promote digital literacy, considering the vision of Broadband coverage for the entire population by 2025,” said Rui Lousã, about the advances achieved by Vodacom for the benefit of people and the national economy.

The 136 sites with 4G technology were installed in the provinces of Sofala, Manica, Tete, Nampula and Cabo Delgado, impacting about 1,500,000 people.

“This is one of the great achievements in just one month. We managed to beat the ambitious plan of 4G Radio coverage > 75% of the total locations by June 2022. We currently have 79% of the Network co-located with 2G/4G and closing the gap,” noted Rui Lousã.
