Zimbabwe offers support for port projects in Mozambique

Zimbabué oferece apoio a projectos portuários em Moçambique

Zimbabwe’s national spokesman, Christopher Mutsvangwa, announced the country’s commitment to supporting port projects under development in Mozambique. Speaking to the Bulawayo24 News website, Mutsvangwa revealed that Zimbabwe is seeking funding for developments in the city of Beira, in Sofala province, and that Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa plans to visit China soon to attract more partnerships.

According to the spokesman, two new port terminals are to be built in Beira, with the Tsingshan Holding group, which already operates in Zimbabwe, being one of the main investors. These new infrastructures aim to facilitate the movement of cargo and boost the economic development of both countries, creating a favorable environment for more foreign investment.

Mutsvangwa highlighted Mozambique’s investments in its logistics infrastructure, saying that this encourages Zimbabwe to support projects of great importance, which promise to have a significant economic impact.

The initiative represents an opportunity to strengthen economic ties between Mozambique and Zimbabwe, as well as to boost trade and regional development. The partnership could also open up new opportunities for cooperation between the two countries, contributing to sustainable economic growth and prosperity in the region.

With mutual support and collaboration on infrastructure and development projects, Mozambique and Zimbabwe can strengthen their position as important players on the economic and trade scene in southern Africa, promoting regional integration and joint progress.
