Eni invests in training Mozambican engineers to strengthen Coral South FLNG project

The Coral South FLNG Project, operated by Italian oil company Eni, is investing in training Mozambican engineers as part of an effort to promote the development of local content and nationalize operations. Twenty-four recently graduated engineers left for Italy this May to take part in technical training at Eni Corporate University, as announced by the company.

This initiative is part of a two-year program, which includes a four-month training course in Italy, covering areas such as health and safety, maintenance, technical and laboratory services. The selected engineers underwent a rigorous selection process among 300 candidates from higher education institutions in Maputo and Pemba, based on criteria of academic excellence.

After training in Italy, the engineers will be prepared to join the Maintenance, Production, Laboratory, Assets and Asset Integrity departments at the Coral Sul FLNG facility, located in the Rovuma Basin, Cabo Delgado province. The Coral Sul project, the first to develop the vast gas resources discovered in the region, has already exported 58 shipments of LNG and 9 of condensate.

Elina Domingos Sambo, one of the engineers benefiting from the program, stressed the importance of capacity building for the country’s development, highlighting her responsibility and commitment to contributing to the growth of Mozambique’s energy sector.

With this second edition of the training program, Eni reaffirms its commitment to developing local content and training Mozambican staff, strengthening cooperation between Mozambique and Italy and boosting the country’s energy sector.
