As part of its commitment to the self-sustainability of communities, and aware of the local yearning for access to opportunities, Vulcan has opened another significant page to strengthen the local economy and promote sustainable development in Moatize with the launch of the Program for the Promotion of Entrepreneurial Initiatives (PROFIE).
With a budget of more than 14 million meticais, this initiative was born out of participatory mapping carried out in 2023 and reflects the company’s commitment to fostering small businesses capable of generating self-employment, expanding access to essential goods and boosting the local economy.
In its first phase, the program will directly benefit 146 projects, covering small businesses, services and agricultural initiatives, among others. Of these, the first 45 beneficiaries have already received kits adapted to their specific needs, with an investment of 5 million meticais, marking the start of a journey towards economic autonomy.
Transparency and impact were fundamental pillars in selecting the projects, which followed criteria such as technical viability, impact on job creation and alignment with environmental and social safeguards. All this was possible thanks to the partnership with the Moatize District Government, the National Employment Institute – Tete Delegation and the Moatize City Council.
PROFIE also offers ongoing support to beneficiaries, with technical follow-up over the next six months, guaranteeing the sustainability of the businesses supported.
At Vulcan, we believe that entrepreneurship is a powerful lever for transforming lives and communities. This program marks the beginning of a joint journey towards a more prosperous and dignified future for all.
