The Bank of Mozambique has announced the launch of the 6th edition of its Regulatory Sandbox, inviting startups, credit institutions, financial companies, payment service providers, developers and other emerging financial entities to submit proposals for innovative solutions to expand access to financial services in the country.
The opportunity aims to promote innovative financial solutions with a focus on inclusion and sustainability.
Lasting around nine months, the process will be divided into four phases: preparing for tests (five months), conducting tests (two months), presenting final reports (one month), and evaluating and disseminating results (one month). The initiative will begin in February 2025 and is aimed at projects that promote the equitable use of financial services in different segments of society, with special attention to vulnerable groups, including women, young people, people with disabilities and residents of rural areas.
As well as prioritizing financial inclusion, the Bank of Mozambique stressed that solutions focused on climate change mitigation will also be valued. The initiative has the potential to generate a positive impact on the economy and encourage the use of innovative financial technologies in the country.
Interested parties can request a participation form via the Bank of Mozambique’s official website or by emailing sandbox@bancomoc.mz. Applications will be open until October 25, 2024, and applicants must follow the guidelines set out in the initiative’s regulations.
