Cross-border financial transactions increase

The Bank of Mozambique has seen an increase in the use of the Real-Time Gross Settlement System for cross-border financial transactions within the Southern African Development Community (SADC), from 8,300 registered in 2021, to 11,400 operations, which represents a growth of 37 percent.

According to the director of Banking Operations, Issuing and Payment Systems Supervision, Maria Esperança Majimeja, this system has been crucial in promoting regional integration by carrying out financial transactions safely and efficiently.

She also said that the Bank of Mozambique was committed to promoting the use of this system and all other payment initiatives in the region, such as transactions cleared on an immediate basis.
