European Union strengthens trade relations with Mozambique

On March 20, 2024, a high-level mission from the European Union Delegation to Mozambique, which is in Nampula Province to strengthen trade relations, visited the Entrepreneurship Guidance Center (COrE) of the Institute for the Promotion of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (IPEME) and Mathária Empreendimentos, a processing SME that has proved to be a success story, in the context of support from the PROMOVE Trade-Moz Project, an initiative funded by the European Union (EU) and implemented by UNIDO.

During the visit, which was attended by EU Ambassador Antonino Maggiore, detailed information was shared on the activities carried out in the context of Promote Trade, aimed at improving trade, strengthening quality infrastructures, promoting competitiveness and cultivating a favorable business environment in Mozambique and extending market access to priority value chains.

In this respect, as a beneficiary of the project, IPEME will receive training and support to improve its SME support services, which include capacity building; coaching and mentoring; a modernization plan and related tools. For its part, Matharia Empreendimentos, an organic company, is participating as a pilot SME in the programme, receiving support in capacity building, modernization plans and export tools.
