Green Venture announces investment in renewable energies in Mozambique during Business Mission to Porto and Lisbon

As part of the Business Mission held in Porto and Lisbon, a delegation of Mozambican entrepreneurs met with representatives of Green Venture, a company specializing in investment and asset management in renewable energies. During the meeting, Green Venture announced its interest in investing in Mozambique and is currently looking for local partners to carry out its investment plans.

With a mandate from shareholders to develop power generation projects in the country, Green Venture sees alignment with the Mozambican government’s goals of achieving universal electrification by 2030. The company recognizes the vast opportunities in Mozambique, especially in relation to the expansion of sugar cane production and diversification of energy sources, taking advantage of the extensive flat areas available.

During the meeting, authorities from the Magude District Government, Maluana Science and Technology Park and MozParks highlighted the availability of space and the need for investment to boost the country’s energy and agricultural sector.

Mozambican company KMA Advisory has signed a preliminary agreement with Green Venture to discuss a possible partnership that will facilitate the implementation of investment projects in Mozambique. In addition, the Mozambique Stock Exchange (BVM) invited Green Venture to explore investment opportunities, highlighting the tax benefits offered by the Mozambican government and the recent launches of sustainable bonds aligned with Green Venture’s interests.

The stock market in Mozambique is diverse, ranging from startups and SMEs to large companies, with tax incentives offering significant discounts on Corporate Income Tax (IRPC). In addition, the Bank of Mozambique already authorizes the issuance of debt in both Metical and foreign currency, providing flexibility and attractiveness for foreign investors.

Green Venture expressed concerns about the flow of capital and the opening of foreign currency accounts during the meeting. The Confederation of Economic Associations of Mozambique (CTA) pointed out that Green Venture’s investment could create valuable opportunities for Mozambican SMEs, further strengthening the country’s entrepreneurial ecosystem.
