Pedro Frederico Cossa, 41, has been appointed Chairman of the Board of Directors (PCA) of the Mozambique Stock Exchange (BVM) during the General Assembly held on March 12, 2025, in Maputo. Cossa’s career at BVM began in 2009, where he held various leadership positions, including Deputy Director of Operations. In July 2024, he assumed the role of Financial Administrator at the Municipal Mobility and Parking Company of Maputo City. Since 2016, Cossa has also served as a university lecturer and is the current president of the Mozambican Association of Economists (AMECON), contributing significantly to the development of Mozambique’s economic sector.
An expert in Development Economics, Cossa holds a master’s degree in the field from Eduardo Mondlane University and a bachelor’s degree in Management and Finance from the Higher Institute of Transport and Communications. His commitment to continuous education is evidenced by additional certifications in Financial Literacy from the University of Pretoria, Financial Markets from the Banking Training Institute of Portugal, and the First Certificate in English from the University of Cambridge.
Between 2015 and 2020, Cossa served as a deputy in the Assembly of the Republic of Mozambique, integrating the Defense, Security, and Public Order Commission. He was also Secretary-General of the Mozambican Youth Organization (OJM) and held positions as financial and human resources administrator at the Municipal Mobility and Development Company (EMME).
With a solid trajectory in economics, financial markets, and public policies, Cossa has dedicated himself to training professionals, teaching subjects such as Financial Systems and Markets and Business Management. His analytical and strategic approach, combined with practical experience in governance, allows him to add value to initiatives that promote innovation and progress in Mozambique’s economic sector.
Beyond his involvement in the economic sector, Cossa demonstrates a strong passion for promoting a sustainable environment through soft mobility. He believes that adopting sustainable transportation solutions, such as electric bicycles, can play a fundamental role in improving quality of life, reducing environmental impact, and building more inclusive and efficient cities.
