Salimo Abdula appointed chairman of the board of Vodafone M-Pesa

Vodafone M-Pesa celebrates its eleventh anniversary with the announcement of the appointment of Salimo Abdula as the new Chairman of the Board of Directors. Abdula, a Mozambican entrepreneur with extensive experience in strategic leadership, takes over the presidency at a crucial time of expansion and innovation in the mobile financial services market.

Vodafone M-Pesa is determined to drive the implementation of innovative solutions that meet the needs of the constantly evolving market. In addition, it will continue to offer secure financial services and collaborate with the Government and the Bank of Mozambique in the financial inclusion program for Mozambicans.

“Taking on the leadership of Vodafone M-Pesa is a challenge that honors me and allows me to contribute to the country’s growth, reaffirming my commitment to operational excellence with a view to providing accessible financial services to all Mozambicans.” Said Salimo Abdula.

Salimo Abdula is known for his vast experience in leadership positions, having been president of important business organizations such as the CPLP Business Confederation and the Confederation of Economic Associations of Mozambique (CTA). He also previously chaired Vodacom Mozambique. Abdula also received honorary degrees in Entrepreneurship from the University of South Africa (UNISA) and in Philosophy from Trinity International University of Ambassadors of the United States of America, in 2022 and 2023, respectively.
