Zambezi Agency invests 7.9 million dollars in agricultural innovation

The Zambezi Valley Development Agency (AdZ) has disbursed a total of 7.9 million dollars to finance agricultural innovation and demonstration projects in central Mozambique. This initiative will benefit more than five thousand small farmers in Manica, Sofala, Tete and Zambézia.

The director general of AdZ, Roberto Albino, emphasized the importance of making good use of these funds to strengthen local producers and boost regional development. The agency also revealed that it has a funding portfolio of around 100 million dollars to support Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) in the country, with a view to modernizing production capacity and guaranteeing technical assistance.

Over the next 18 months, 25 new factories are expected to be set up in various agro-industrial areas, thanks to funding from the AGRIVAl program. In the last five years, AdZ has mobilized resources to finance 31 SMEs in the industrial sector.
