Quelimane pretende investir 13 milhões de meticais para a reabilitação das vias de acesso

The Municipal Council of Quelimane, in Zambezia province, intends to invest 13 million meticais from the Roads Fund to rehabilitate four access roads with paving, asphalt and earthworks, as announced by Rádio Moçambique.

According to reports, the rehabilitation work will include the removal and laying of new asphalt at critical points, and the laying of paving. The councillor for Infrastructure and Urbanization, Plácido Sabonete, said that the main aim of these interventions is to minimize the degradation of the access roads and assured that the funds have already been transferred to the municipality.

Quelimane is facing serious road degradation problems, and Plácido Sabonete also mentioned that work is already underway to asphalt some of the city’s avenues. In addition, work is underway to lay gravel on Dr. Aldo Marchezine Street, specifically in the Santagua district, past administrative post number four, with the aim of improving the sidewalk and laying some aqueducts to make the road passable efficiently. It is estimated that around 97 million meticais will be spent on these emergency road works, with funding from the World Bank.
