Ukrainian Foreign Minister visits Mozambique

The head of Ukrainian diplomacy said today that he will visit Mozambique to have “an honest conversation” with the authorities about the invasion of Ukraine.

In response to a question posed by Lusa news agency, during a virtual meeting with several journalists from different African countries, Dmytro Kuleba did not advance dates, but said the goal is that Mozambique realizes that Ukraine is facing “a clear invasion”.

“My tour of African countries will continue, and Mozambique is among the countries we will visit to have a truly honest conversation,” he said.

Ukraine’s foreign minister is conducting a tour of the continent to garner support from African countries in their unanimous condemnation of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

Mozambique is on the list of countries that have abstained on three resolutions that have been voted on in the UN General Assembly since the Russian invasion of Ukraine on February 24.

“Para nós fazermos um turismo saudável precisamos ter as nossas políticas alinhadas com aquilo que é o desenvolvimento do país e temos que olhar primeiro para o turismo doméstico, sem esquecer naturalmente o turismo internacional”, referiu.

Vasco Manhiça avançou ainda que Moçambique precisa olhar para dentro do país para criar uma cultura de turismo que vai proporcionar condições para que o turismo internacional venha “encontrar-nos numa velocidade de cruzeiro”.

Sobre a 8ª edição do FIKANI, o vice-presidente da Associação das Confederação considerou que “estamos perante uma oportunidade de demonstrar aquilo que é o potencial de Moçambique”.

Vasco Manhiça referiu ainda que Moçambique enfrenta actualmente grandes dificuldades devido à guerra em Cabo Delgado, porém alega haver uma necessidade de mudança de mentalidades para mostrar que o país está em guerra, mas que esta não afecta todas as regiões.

“Quem está fora não conhece a situação geográfica de Moçambique e pensa que o país está em guerra, quando na verdade são alguns focos”, concluiu.

Ministro ucraniano dos Negócios Estrangeiros visita Moçambique

O responsável pela diplomacia ucraniana disse hoje que vai visitar Moçambique para ter “uma conversa honesta” com as autoridades sobre a invasão da Ucrânia.

Em resposta a uma pergunta colocada pela agência Lusa, durante um encontro virtual com vários jornalistas de diferentes países africanos, Dmytro Kuleba não avançou datas, mas referiu que o objectivo é que Moçambique perceba que a Ucrânia está perante “uma clara invasão”.

“A minha viagem por países africanos vai continuar e Moçambique está entre os países que nós vamos visitar para termos uma conversa verdadeiramente honesta”, disse.

O ministro dos Negócios Estrangeiros da Ucrânia está a realizar um périplo pelo continente para angariar apoio dos países africanos na condenação unânime da invasão russa da Ucrânia.

Moçambique integra a lista de países que se abstiveram em três resoluções que foram a votos na Assembleia Geral da Organização da ONU, desde a invasão russa da Ucrânia, em 24 de Fevereiro.

Limak Cimentos inaugurates natural gas-fired thermal power plant

The inauguration of the thermal plant, a private investment, cost about 3.5 million dollars and in a first phase, will produce 4.8 MW.

However, the Minister of Industry and Trade, Silvino Moreno said it is the government’s expectation that the inauguration of the thermal plant will be reflected in the reduction of production costs with impact on the price of cement to the consumer.

Silvino Moreno believes that the bet of the private sector on local raw material will allow a greater exploitation of the regional market and the free trade zone of the African continent that Mozambique joined.

For Moreno, Mozambique will save foreign exchange and reduce the volume of imports, thus giving greater value to local raw materials, one of the assumptions of the National Industrialize Mozambique program.

The inauguration ceremony of this enterprise, was attended by the Secretary of State in the province of Maputo, Vitória Diogo and the Turkish Ambassador to Mozambique, Huseyin Aksoy.

Limak Cimentos inaugura central térmica à base de gás natural

A inauguração da central térmica, num investimento privado, custou cerca de 3.5 milhões de dólares e numa primeira fase, vai produzir 4.8 MW.

Contudo, o Ministro da Indústria e Comércio, Silvino Moreno disse ser expectativa do governo, que a inauguração da central térmica, reflicta-se na redução dos custos de produção com impacto no preço do cimento ao consumidor.

Silvino Moreno considera que a aposta do sector privado na matéria-prima local, vai permitir uma maior exploração do mercado regional e da zona de comércio livre do continente africano a que Moçambique aderiu.

Para Moreno, Moçambique vai poupar divisas e reduzir o volume das importações, conferindo assim maior valor a matéria-prima local, um dos pressupostos do programa Nacional Industrializar Moçambique.

Francisco Ferreira elected president of the International Cotton Council

This election is, according to Francisco Ferreira dos Santos, “a very important moment for the country and for the cotton sub-sector in particular.

“Although our size is insignificant in the global scale of cotton production and consumption, this election is a tacit recognition of our capacity and work, and also a good opportunity for us to contribute, in an even more effective way, to the global development of the cotton value chain, and to raise the Mozambican brand,” stressed the president of AAM.

The main mission of ICAC’s Private Sector Consultative Council is to promote communication between the private sector and ICAC members, and to convey to them the concerns of the cotton industry throughout its value chain, from fiber production to its transformation by the textile industry.

ICAC, based in Washington, USA, is an international and intergovernmental association of cotton producing and consuming countries, created in 1939 with the objective of establishing international cooperation in cotton issues.

That international organization, recognized as a partner by the United Nations, currently brings together 24 countries, including Mozambique since 2010, which represent the overwhelming majority of cotton produced and traded worldwide.

Francisco Ferreira eleito presidente do Conselho Internacional do Algodão

Esta eleição é, de acordo com Francisco Ferreira dos Santos, “um momento muito importante para o país e para o subsector do algodão em particular”.

“Apesar da nossa dimensão ser insignificante na escala global da produção e consumo de algodão, esta eleição é um reconhecimento tácito da nossa capacidade e trabalho, e também uma boa oportunidade de podermos contribuir, de uma forma ainda mais efectiva, para o desenvolvimento global da cadeia de valor do algodão, e para elevar a marca de Moçambique”, sublinhou o presidente da AAM.

O Conselho Consultivo do Sector Privado do ICAC tem por missão principal promover a comunicação entre o sector privado e os membros do ICAC e transmitir-lhes as preocupações da indústria algodoeira em toda a sua cadeira de valor, desde a produção da fibra até à sua transformação pela indústria têxtil.

O ICAC, sediado em Washington, nos EUA, é uma associação internacional e intergovernamental de países produtores e consumidores de algodão, criada em 1939, com o objectivo de estabelecer cooperação internacional nas questões relativas ao algodão.

Aquele organismo internacional, reconhecido como parceiro pelas Nações Unidas, congrega actualmente 24 países, entre os quais Moçambique desde o ano de 2010 que representam a esmagadora maioria do algodão produzido e comercializado no mundo.

Vilankulo is the most visited tourist destination in Mozambique

In this context, Filipe Nyusi expressed his satisfaction with the recovery trend of the tourism sector at the international level with emphasis on Europe and America, but also in other parts of the world, including the SADC region and Mozambique in particular.

“Currently, international arrivals in Mozambique are approaching 70% of the 2019 levels, therefore, before the Covid-19 pandemic,” he began by saying adding that “in the first quarter of 2022 our country recorded 149 thousand international visitors against 93 thousand in the same period last year and in this growth stands out the district of Vilankulo that notified itself as the largest destination of international tourism.

However, it is the expectation of the President of the Republic that this growth trend will continue with ambitious goals.

At the end of his speech, Nyusi challenged the tourism operators present at FIKANI to take full advantage of the opening measures and the simplification of bureaucratic procedures so that by 2024 the country can reach about 10 million international arrivals.

It should be noted that during the three days of the 8th edition of the fair, several activities are scheduled, such as exhibitions, issuing of passports, workshops, networking, social events and awards where the best exhibitors will be distinguished, with emphasis on: Best Exhibitor(Stand); Best Exhibiting Province; Best Foreign Exhibitor; Best Handicraft Exhibitor.

President of the Republic inaugurates International Tourism Fair

During three days of the 8th edition of the fair, several activities are scheduled such as exhibitions, workshops, networking, social events and awards where the best exhibitors will be distinguished, with emphasis on: Best Exhibitor(Stand); Best Exhibiting Province; Best Foreign Exhibitor; Best Handicraft Exhibitor.

Held under the slogan: Tourism as a Factor of Economic Revitalization, the International Tourism Fair aims, according to the Minister of Culture and Tourism, Eldevina Materula, to stimulate and involve the public and private sectors, the rural communities to enter into partnerships in order to exploit the tourism opportunities of the region as a destination for the benefit of all.

FIKANI will feature 120 stands and 5000 visitors and expects to welcome local and international tour operators.

Launched in 2013, the International Tourism Fair is an event organized in a joint partnership between the Government of Mozambique and the private sector (Mozambican Federation of Tourism and Hospitality) and constitutes the highest and most prestigious business and meeting point between national tourism companies and institutions with their counterparts from the southern region and other parts of the world.

Neste contexto, Filipe Nyusi manifestou a sua satisfação com a tendência de recuperação do sector do turismo à nível internacional com destaque para a Europa e América, mas também noutros pontos do mundo, incluindo a região da SADC e Moçambique em particular.

“Actualmente, as chegadas internacionais em Moçambique aproximam-se aos 70% dos níveis de 2019, portanto, antes da pandemia da Covid-19”, começou por dizer acrescentando que “no primeiro trimestre de 2022 o nosso país registou 149 mil visitantes internacionais contra 93 mil em igual período do ano passado e neste crescimento destaca-se o distrito de Vilankulo que se notificou como o maior destino do turismo internacional.

No entanto, é expectativa do Presidente da República que esta tendência de crescimento se mantenha com metas ambiciosas.

No fim do seu discurso, Nyusi desafiou os operadores turísticos presentes no FIKANI a tirarem o máximo proveito das medidas de abertura e a simplificação de procedimentos burocráticos para que até 2024 o país possa atingir cerca de 10 milhões de chegadas internacionais.

Refira-se que durante os três dias da realização da 8ª edição da feira, estão programadas várias actividades como exposições, emissão de passaportes, workshops, networking, eventos sociais e premiação onde serão distinguidos os melhores expositores, com destaque para: Melhor Expositor(Stand); Melhor Província Expositora; Melhor Expositor Estrangeiro; Melhor Expositor Artesanato.
