Barclays received 169 South African rand per share in an accelerated book announced on Wednesday.
The placement is expected to result in a proforma increase of about 4 basis points to the Barclays group’s CET1 ratio, a key measure of financial strength, as of June 30.
It should be noted that the British bank announced it would sell Absa in 2016 as part of a revamped strategy to focus more on the United States and Britain under then Chief Executive Jes Staley.

Refira-se que o banco britânico anunciou que venderia o Absa em 2016, como parte de uma reformulação da estratégia para se concentrar mais nos Estados Unidos e na Grã-Bretanha sob o então Chefe Executivo Jes Staley.

V Mozambique-Portugal Summit
The previous summit between the two countries was in 2019 and at the time Filipe Nyusi advocated the strengthening of economic relations with Portugal. Nyusi, also called for training and investment in the transformation of the country’s raw materials, to enhance them.
The Prime Minister of Portugal, António Costa and the President of the Republic, Filipe Nyusi lead the delegations at the V Mozambique-Portugal Summit, scheduled for today in Maputo.
The business forum between the two countries will take place on Friday during the Maputo International Fair (FACIM), the country’s largest business showcase, also attended by Nyusi and Costa.

V Cimeira Moçambique-Portugal
A anterior cimeira entre os dois países foi em 2019 e na altura Filipe Nyusi defendeu o reforço das relações económicas com Portugal. Nyusi, pediu ainda a formação e investimento na transformação das matérias-primas do país, para as valorizar.
O Primeiro-Ministro de Portugal, António Costa e o Presidente da República, Filipe Nyusi lideram as delegações na V Cimeira Moçambique-Portugal, marcada para hoje, em Maputo.
O fórum de negócios entre os dois países vai decorrer na sexta-feira, durante a Feira Internacional de Maputo (FACIM), a maior mostra de negócios do país, igualmente com a presença de Nyusi e Costa.
In a statement, Pedro Carvalho assumes that it is with great honor and sense of responsibility that he embraces the challenge of leading one of the most relevant financial institutions in the Mozambican market.

The launching ceremony of this platform took place at the Zambezi Valley Pavilion, as part of the largest business exhibition of the country, FACIM, which is being held at the International Fair and Exhibition Center of Ricatla, in the district of Marracuene, Maputo.
Zambezi Valley invests 200 million in seven factories
At the occasion, the Director of the Services of Studies and Strategic Analysis of Zambezi Valley referred that the institution has invested 200 million of Meticals in the implantation of seven plants of rice and fruits processing in the provinces of Zambezia, Sofala and Manica.
According to Jose Cardoso, this investment is a result of the financing lines that the agency was able to mobilize aiming at dynamizing the agro-processing.
Cardoso also explained that some of the factories are already operating and others are in the process of implementation, with an installed capacity of 7500 tons each.

Vale do Zambeze investe 200 milhões em sete fábricas
Na ocasião, o Director dos Serviços de Estudos e Análises Estratégicas do Vale do Zambeze referiu que ainda que a instituição investiu 200 milhões de meticais na implantação de sete fábricas de processamento de arroz e frutas nas províncias da Zambézia, Sofala e Manica.
De acordo com José Cardoso, este investimento é resultado das linhas de financiamento que a agência conseguiu mobilizar visando dinamizar o agro-processamento.
Cardoso explicou ainda que algumas das fábricas já se encontram em funcionamento e outras em processo de implantação, com uma capacidade instalada de 7500 toneladas cada.
Meanwhile, the President of the Republic, Filipe Nyusi, receives today, Thursday (01), at 10:00 am, at the Office of the Presidency of the Republic, the Prime Minister of Portugal, António Costa.
A note from the Presidency of the Republic points out that the Portuguese Prime Minister’s visit to the country has as its highest point the participation in the 5th Bilateral Summit, which will take place under the theme: “Mozambique-Portugal: Strengthening the Strategic Partnership Towards Sustainable Development.
During the event, the leaders will exchange views on the political, economic and social situation of the two countries and their regions (SADC and the European Union), as well as review current international issues and of mutual interest, in the framework of the Community of Portuguese-Speaking Countries and the United Nations, the document said.
According to the note, the two leaders will also witness the signing of legal instruments of bilateral cooperation and proceed with the opening of the Business Forum.
The Portuguese Prime Minister made his first visit to the country in 2018, having, on that occasion, participated in the Third Bilateral Summit.

Uma nota da Presidência da República aponta que a visita do Primeiro-Ministro português ao país tem como ponto mais alto a participação na 5.ª Cimeira Bilateral, que irá decorrer sob o lema: “Moçambique-Portugal: Fortalecendo a Parceria Estratégica Rumo ao Desenvolvimento Sustentável”.
Durante o evento, os governantes vão trocar impressões sobre a situação política, económica e social dos dois países e das respectivas regiões (SADC e União Europeia), bem como passar em revista assuntos da actualidade internacional e de interesse mútuo, no quadro da Comunidade dos Países de Língua Portuguesa e das Nações Unidas, refere o documento.
De acordo com a nota, os dois dirigentes vão igualmente testemunhar a assinatura de instrumentos jurídicos de cooperação bilateral e proceder à abertura do Fórum de Negócios.
O Primeiro-Ministro português realizou a sua primeira visita ao país em 2018, tendo, nessa ocasião, participado na Terceira Cimeira Bilateral.
